Cedar Solutions enjoys living and working in the Hill Country because we get to visit so many different ranches and farms. This diverse slice of Texas is home to hundreds of different properties that run the gamut from hay and crop production and cattle operations to equestrian facilities and exotic animal breeding. The one commonality in all these places is what grows on the land itself. When it rains every plant in sight grows – wanted or unwanted. Let us selectively clear cedar, mesquite and prickly pear, mow overgrown fields and pastures and grind down those ugly stumps. If you need an overgrown road cleared, we can cut a swath through the densest thicket. If wild grape and berry vines threaten your plants and person we can tame them. We can also enhance the function and beauty of your property by removing stubborn rocks, unused fences, dilapidated structures and unsightly debris.
Cedar Solutions follows guidelines set out by both State and Federal agencies for land management, habitat improvement and wildlife conservation. The Landowner Incentive Program was created by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to assist private landowners in protecting and conserving rare native species by creating and enhancing habitat.
On the Federal level, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has established the Environmentally Quality Incentives Program. One of the qualifying criteria for this program calls for restoration and enhancement of native wildlife habitat. We can satisfy the requirements of both programs with a regimen of selective tree and brush clearing that allows water and sunlight to reach native plants and grasses and eliminates invasive and competing species. As a result, wildlife habitat is naturally enhanced and ecologically sensitive areas are restored as native plants flourish. Cedar Solutions works with horse ranches and horse owners to create better, more efficient equestrian facilities. We can create or convert tired fields into first class horse pastures by removing unwanted trees and shrubs, hauling away rocks and debris and grinding stumps below ground or removing them altogether. The finished product is a smooth, safe and equine friendly.
Another common problem for horses is the prickly pears cactus. Although a beautiful succulent, the cacti can leave your animals perforated with spines that cause discomfort, infection and sometimes even digestive and respiratory problems. We can chemically treat or cut and remove the cacti. Usually, after a bi-annual follow up, they are no longer an issue. We can also build and repair trails. We can clear mile long paths through thick underbrush or simply provide access to a nearby creek or a favorite ride. If an existing trail needs work, let us shore it up and improve the slope and compaction for you and your animal’s safety and comfort.
Cedar Solutions knows that even the most attentive and discerning land owner can be greatly surprised just how quickly unwanted trees, shrubs and grasses grow and multiply. In a short time, productive pastures can be swallowed by tall invasive grasses, vines can choke old growth shade trees and cedar can encroach on fences, structures and other species. You might call this an unsightly, unwanted, continual hassle. We simply call it our job – call us and we will do the work.
